A scone at Paris Coffee

Paris Coffee is a cafe just off Dougenzaka in Shibuya, not far from the Hachiko crossing. It’s fairly cheap, considering it serves fancy-looking coffee from actual, named countries. A coffee will set you back around 450 to 550 yen, while a scone is less than 300 yen. A good choice suitable for those who appreciate a pleasant atmosphere, but can’t be bothered to make reservations for a butler cafe.

The above photo doesn’t show my drink, by the way. I got a “Rose Marry” and when it arrived, cream rose swirl on the top, pink brandy glistening on the petals, HUNDREDS-AND-THOUSANDS, I got excited and… *splodge* The drink suddenly wasn’t so photogenic. That sound effect was my hand squashing the rose just as I caught the glass when it fell off the coaster, by the way. Pervert.

You can find a map in English here. There are photos of the shop front below.

Food always gets my attention… and the food presentation looks almost too elaborate to then dip your knife into. (Although part of me is thinking, “that can’t be what it looks like; it’s the angle, yeah…”)

But what kind of coffee shop would this be? A student hangout? Someplace to stop in while out for the day? A coffee connoisseur’s temple of worship? A theme cafe? Something else?

I’m getting the feeling that coffee places in Tokyo may not directly translate to what I (non-coffee drinker) know – at least the butler cafes wouldn’t – but I’m not familiar enough to really tell.

It does look elaborate (we were wondering how they made the cream roses the whole time). But for all the little touches of elegance, it was really cheap for a cafe in central Tokyo. Definitely recommended if you’re ever in town. :)

    That looks gorgeous. *___*

And is that a rosette of clotted cream? ♥

It certainly is! We couldn’t really figure out how they made them. There was a huge amount of attention to detail considering the price!

I love going here on my trips to japan. First time was late 80s, second time was around 2005…something about the quaint decor really catches my eye. It is a silly dream of mine to open up a similar cafe where i live. do you have any more pics of this place to share?
